Let all that you do be done in love.
I'm sure many of us are very familar with the story regarding the little boy who gave 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed the 5,ooo.
I thought through this and i felt, this boy must be a loving and sacrificial child. Well, you got understand the situation of the people at that time.
The disciples told Jesus to send the people away so they can buy food for themselves. They had followed Jesus a long way, listening to Him teach. But Jesus didn't want to do so. He didn't want them to faint along the way to buy food. So actually they were very very hungry and tired. So was the boy.
The disciples found him with 5 loaves and 2 fish and he gave.
2 things came to my mind.
1. This boy is not a first time giver.
When the disciples came looking for people to offer up their food, he offered up his. And likely this is not first time he gave to God. He may have given before in the past many times. And this time there was a great need to feed 5,000 people. He readily gave all he had.
2. This boy gave in love.
He had followed Jesus just like others did. And like them, he was very hungry and tired. But when he knew the disciples wanted to get food to feed the five 5,000, he gave. Take note that he gave all. He did not keep 1 piece of fish or bread for himself but gave all.
And logically, anyone who looks at the 5 loaves and 2 fish, and the 5,000 people, knows that whatever he gave will not come back to him. In fact, it would not be enough.
The boy gave his food to Jesus to feed others. He gave in love.
And because he gave, Jesus took his love offering and multiply it. Not only did the boy eat till his fill, he also saw Jesus doing the miracle with that love offering.
Maybe Jesus has been asking you to give something. It may be finances, time or love and you have been giving. Don't get tired and withold or reduce your giving.
Gal 6:1
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Mt 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Sow in love.
Love never fails.
God is love.
God never fails.
Xiaoyun mentioned one point. She believe that there may be more just person with food. The boy may not be the only boy with lunchbox as mothers do pack lunchboxes for their children. But only he gave.
It very different seeing Jesus doing miracle with offering from others then from your own. Do you know what i mean?
The boy don't just see, he now experience it for himself. What a joy!
